Classic Album Sundays KC fans, you voted and we listened! After 4 sessions of voting it came down to a tie, so we are going to play The Beatles' "Revolver", celebrating its 50th Anniversary in August, and Paul Simon's "Graceland", celebrating its 30th Anniversary in August.
As producer Ken Scott told us when choosing his Top 5 Albums Of All Time, "Revolver" was “One small step for the band; one giant leap for popular music” and it is always one of our most requested albums.
Paul Simon’s “Graceland” was somewhat controversial in that Simon ignored a ban on working in South Africa due to the country’s apartheid regime. However, it did help bring attention to the country’s rich artistry and political plight. The excellent documentary “Under African Skies” investigates this debate. The album did win a Grammy for “Record of the Year” and the gorgeous songs were beautifully recorded by Roy Halee.
